We are delighted to introduce Lysth Nursery into this lovely location in Wandsworth, London. The emphasis at our Lysth Nursery is to see everything from a parent's point of view, creating a caring and loving environment for children 0 - 5 years of age. At every stage of their development, quality of care and learning is our target.

The Early Years Foundation Stage

The staff at Lysth Nursery follow the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage which encourages development and learning from birth to 5 years.

The aim of the framework is to encourage young children to achieve the 'Every Child Matters' outcomes, of staying safe, being healthy, enjoying and achieving, making a positive contribution and achieving economic well being. The nursery undertakes the responsibility of ensuring that the children are provided with opportunities to develop a solid platform for future learning, enabling them to reach their full potential in a fun-filled, child centred environment.

The framework ensures that the children have access to a range of play activities, resources for learning and that the inclusion of every child is of paramount importance.

Through observing and assessing, children's individual needs are met and children can make progress through the 'Development Matters' section of the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Our School Year & Sessions

The School Year is divided into three terms:

  • Autumn Term (September to December)
  • Spring Term (January to Easter)
  • Summer Term (After Easter to July)

In each of the terms we offer morning, afternoon and full day sessions.

  • Morning Sessions: 8.00 am to 1.00 pm (including a snack & lunch)
  • Afternoon Sessions: 1.00 pm to 6.00 pm (including tea)
  • Full day: 8.00 am to 6.00 pm (including snack, lunch & tea)

In order to give you the greatest flexibility we offer the choice for your child to attend mornings, afternoons, full days or a mixture of all three. Once your child turns three, we advise attending 5 sessions per week (mornings or afternoons) during

term-time. This is in order for your child to be prepared for school assessments, as well as to gain maximum benefit from the curriculum and to ensure a smooth transition from Nursery to Pre-Preparatory School.

Those children who are under three years of age who attend the morning session will sleep after lunch for approx 1 hour 30 minutes unless otherwise advised.

Nutritious Homemade Meals

Our team of dedicated full time chefs produce delicious and nutritious homemade meals using meat, fish, fresh fruit and vegetables which are all sourced from highly reputable suppliers. We are mindful of special dietary requirements for religious and cultural reasons and to ensure that medical requirements are fulfilled.

Breakfast time

In the morning the children are offered fresh milk or water together with a home-made biscuit, bread or fruit. We encourage the children to hand out the cups and home-made biscuits and they are supported in pouring their own drink too. If you would prefer for your child in our baby group (0-2 years) to have formula milk you will need to provide this as and when required.

Lunch time

Lunch is served in three different sittings. The children sit down to a delicious home cooked meal. Their teachers encourage good manners and the correct use of cutlery!

Tea time

Teatime begins at 3.30pm. Our chefs prepare a nutritious meal for the children.

Nut-Free

Please note we follow a very strict 'no nut policy' and due to various allergies within the school, we kindly ask that your child does not bring in food from home. If there is a special circumstance, please email the school office in advance.

'sweet treats' are limited to special occasions such as the end of the term or a celebration within the school.
